Tears in Solitude
Rhyme and Reason
Khawar Kazi

In my loneliness, and alone

Grey clouds, all darkness pressing,

No soft voice, no soothing tone,

What could be more a blessing

Than tears in solitude?

In sorrow and in despair,

Restless, restless in the mood:

No voice, no tune to hear,

No desire, no need for food

Just tears in solitude.

A heavy heart, a restless soul,

A burdened mind, distress;

A certain aim, a certain goal

No tender words, no caress

Just tears in solitude.

An angry sea, soft the rain,

The hushing breeze, a sigh,

A heavy heart, an aching pain,

But friends to me are my

Tears in solitude.
