Zadhan stated: “Once ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas
became very sick and he called his children. So, they gathered
and Ibn ‘Abbas said: ‘I heard God’s Messenger say: “He who
goes on foot to offer the hajj from Makkah and then returns,
God writes for him the reward of seven hundred deeds for every
step he took with each deed equivalent to the deeds of Haram.”
When he was asked: “What are the deeds of Haram?” He replied:
“Each has a reward of hundred thousand deeds.”’”
Following is the schematic illustration of the isnad of this
narrative’s variants:
Regarding ‘Īsa ibn Sawadah ibn al-Ja‘d, Ibn
Abi Hatim says that he is munkar al-hadith da‘if; while
referring to the narrative under discussion, he says that it
is munkar.
Ibn Ma‘in says that he is a liar.
Al-Bayhaqi says that he is majhul.
